Cassia Siam’s White – White Shower Tree

Hello from Cassia Siam's White-White Shower Tree at

Garden Art by Samir Farm & Nursery.

Type : Avenue Trees

Rainbow Shower Tree is a hybrid between Amaltas (Cassia fistula) and Java cassia (Cassia javanica). It is a gorgeous tree having clusters of flowers with various colors. There are several different varieties of the rainbow shower tree, each having different colors of flowers, often maturing from one color to another. While there is more colorful variety having clusters of yellow and pink flowers, there is also a variety with nearly white flowers, with a tinge of yellow. It is a medium to large size tree, to 40 ft. Seen in well maintained parks and streets in India. The tree is very drought tolerant and grows best in full sun, hot, and dry conditions. The rainbow shower tree is a sterile hybrid. Propagation is by hybridization, grafting. One advantage of this fact is that there is no seed-pod, and the tree is tidier as compared to other Cassias.

About the Tree

  • Plants are hardy, drought-tolerant, and will grow in just about any soil like acidic, alkaline, sandy, or clayey.
  • Planting for parks and gardens especially in groups, single specimen & line plantations.
  • The tree becomes leafless in winter especially if irrigation is not present.
  • The minimum distance between plant to plant should be 5m*5m.

1. Plant the Cassia Tree

Grow cassia in well-drained soil that isn't prone to standing water. Cassia tolerates and grows well in most moderate-quality garden soil. Space plants 3 to 4 feet apart from each other and other nearby plants. Cassia also grows well in large pots filled with standard potting soil.

2. Provide Plenty of Sunlight

Provide cassia with a full six hours or more of daily sunlight. Plants remain evergreen in sunny locations where temperatures remain above freezing.

3. Water the Cassia Plant

Water garden cassia approximately once a week with 1 to 2 inches of water. Do this for the first year after planting. Established plants only require irrigation during dry periods when the soil begins to dry out completely. Water potted cassia when the top 1 inch of soil feels dry.

4. Mulch Around the Cassia Bush

Cover the soil in the garden bed with a 2-inch layer of mulch and replenish it each fall. Mulch retains soil moisture and protects plant roots in winter. Leave a space between the cassia stem and the mulch so they aren't touching.

5. Prune the Plant

Trim out dead branches or leaves at any time during the growing season. recommends cutting dead stems back to the nearest healthy wood with pruning shears. Dispose of removed stems and leaves.

6. Take Care During a Frost

Bring potted cassia plants indoors if frost is an issue and you want them to remain evergreen. Place them in a sunny window and water just enough so the soil doesn't dry completely. Cold may kill back the foliage on outdoor plants. Remove the dead leaves once new growth resumes in spring.
